Creepy Ceramic Tableware

Sitting down for a nice hot cup of tea, you pick up your cup to find a mouth wide open staring back at you. Creepy? Shocking? Or a reflection of our most sensitive body parts?

Israeli artist Ronit Baranga, specialises in ceramics and sculptures, is the creative vision behind this set of unique, interesting and rather creepy ceramic tableware. While we don’t know if we would drink our Earl Grey out of these cups, the artist has attempted to show a visual perception of the “invisible boundaries” between the outside world and humans. Confused? Well so are we, but we like to think that our hands are slightly better manicured and my mouth doesn’t open quite like that when I’m taking a sip of my morning coffee (well I hope it doesn’t).

Nonetheless these pieces are something to talk about, and maybe even introduce to your Afternoon Tea with the girls next week. Watch out…Yelps, screeches and flying scones.
